Frame Drums
Frame drums represent a family inside the world of Percussion Instruments.The origin of these instruments is really ancient: we can find iconographic materials that goes back to 6000 years ago.
Frame drums cannot be located only in one place or culture in the world; you can find them in a lot of cultures around the globe, differently shaped in terms of construction and technique due to the music that are made for.

What I teach?
I mainly teach 4 kinds of frame drums:
- Tar and Bendir
in 3 different positions: Lapstyle - Upright - Free Hand
- Riq
Arabic Tambourine that you can find both in Classical and Folk repertoire of the Arabic World
- Italian Frame Drums

Classical Western Percussions
Classical Western Percussion is a family of instruments inside the world of Percussion Instruments that are related to Classical and Contemporary Western music.
The main difference compared to frame drums is that this family of instruments are played with mallets, unlike the most part of frame drums which are played without mallets.
You can find a main division between this huge family: Pitched percussions and Unpitched percussions

The first movement of my

This is a duo for two Riqs played with one of my teachers, Elias Habib

The piece that we play is a transcription written out by me from a video of one concert that features the legendary Muhammed Al Arabi and the son Hisham Al Arabi
Here is a video of the performance of a piece by the greek-french composer Iannis Xenakis called "Dmaathen" in duo with Luca Avanzi.

The set-up that i play is a quite common set-up in the percussion literature of the second '900, presenting both pitched and unpitched percussions
In this video i play with MDI Ensemble a piece by the italian composer Franco Donatoni called "Arpège".

The organic of the piece is a sextet
